Nishio Conservation Studio was established in 1995 to provide
the highest quality care and professional conservation of Asian
paintings, hanging scrolls (kakemono) and folding screens
(byobu). The spacious Studio was custom built in a newly
restored modern building in Washington, D. C..
Nishio Conservation Studio is unique in its approach to
conservation. We combine Japanese traditional techniques,
craftsmanship and aesthetics with Western academic training and
